Ford or John Deere?

Not trying to start brand wars...just at a crossroads. Which one should I keep?

56" Ford 650, 95% great condition, "know what I have" No loader or PS. Non-live PTO. Classic looks I think.

72" JD 1020 recently purchased. Cosmetically rough, Mechanics unknown, does seem to run "okay." Needs work compared to Ford, but I like JD loader, and does have live PTO.

I do a light duty utility work. mower, bushhog, push snow, dirt moving here and there. Just like to see different ideas, Thanks.

Live pto and a Loader plus power steering settles it. The only thing better would be Cab Air and Four wheel drive.

A person could argue either way with the info given. I "bleed blue", so you know how I'd argue. I'll go along with Gary and wolfman... keep them both. (or trade the JD on a 4000/4600 Ford w/loader!)

If the 650 FORD is as nice as you say, dress it up for the local tractor shows and parades, have fun with it and use it for easy tasks around the ranch. Leave the JD in it's work clothes to do the grunt work and enjoy both of them.

from experience you will need at least 2 tractors for that work, so keep them both, if your like me if your working a multi day job with your tractor, its a royal pain in the mule to have to unload it, take the brush hog off at night, so you can hook the feed trailer and go do chores, i found a use for 3 here my ford and a brush hog is sitting on my trailer as its working somewhere else for a few days, [ i will not leave my equipment parked at a job overnight due to unsupervised kids and their damage] my jd 301A [ the industrial version of your 1020] is hooked to a brush hog on the farm used evenings and mornings before "city folks" get up, my small feed trailer is currently hooked to my farmall cub, its a load, but its doing fine with it, result more time spent working less time foolin with changing impliments

I'm not sure I understand. You only have two tractors and you think you have to many? Are you listening to your wife or what?

Thanks for the replies, the reason one must go is the money I have tied up in it is the concrete floor and wiring in my new workshop, plus I really don't NEED two...but it would be nice. 5 very small children keep most of my time tied up!

Your kidding right?? Which should you keep well think about it a bit if one brakes down if you keep them both then the grass etc will not get out of control but if you sell one and have a brake down your in trouble big time. Me I could not get by with just 2 tractors even. And yes I do in fact have 2 many but at least if I need one I have at least 5 or 6 if not more that will back me up if one does brake down

Keep them both! Dirt floor and extension cord works for me!

I hear what your saying but,is the price you get for either tractor going to make much diffrents on money to keep you and 5 kids eating.I had the same question with 8 children and for what my old junk(to some not me)was worth I kept both and found other places(like entertainment less trips to town. etc.)to save alittle money to make ends meet.

It seems the 650 will give you no worries sow I would keep it. It definitely would be hard to loose the loader. What one feels better while driving?

Well when I faced that question I got thinking if I get stuck then I will only have one tractor. And I would need the second to pull me out.
So I kept both the Ford and the Deere. But then my kids were grown and gone so I faced a different dollar squeeze.
