Just hope the weather guesser are right and we do not get any rain till Sunday. NOAA, the local TV and raido stations all say no rain till late Sunday so maybe I'll be ok. But the way this heat is it might be ready to bale tomorrow then after I get done I hope it rains off and on so I get a 2nd cutting. Oh and I ran out of gas just before I got done and had maybe 3 passes to go before I would have been done so had to walk to the house and get gas but took an hour break before going back out. This 107 heat index sure doesn't make it easy on a person

Yup. James and I both got overheated last Sunday.
Actual temp was 102, don"t know what the index was.
Hope we get some rain from the coming tropical storm "Bonnie".

It has been 100+ here.with our LOW humiditty,hay drys FAST.1 or 2 days.Rained tuesday,hay will bale tommorow.

Its been a tough year, I finnished mine the 14th of july. You just go like heck between rain storms! Glad to hear you finally got some moisture, need some more, we been under a flash flood watch for two days.

I have no idea how many acres it was. How far will an old Oliver 77 pulling a NH460 moco go on say 2 gal of gas?? Ya that was about all the gas I put in so it might have been 1 or 2 acres maybe a little more

Most years I have the hay done by mid June but the last 2 years is has been one heck of a time getting it done. As for the hay yep the tops are dry and brown but the under growth is very thick and hard to cut because of how much is really there.

The key is, as long as its raining, most of the grass will stay green (except for the very tops). Once it quits raining, you have about 2 weeks to get it put up, before the whole plant starts browning up. We try to get June hay up around here, but most years, the rain magically stops on the 4th of July, then very little the rest of the summer.

> How do you guys who get so much rain ever get any good hay put up?or is it all broun and damaged?

My 3pt bale wrapper is really paying for itself this year. Several times this year I've cut hay right before a storm if it looks like it will only get rained on for a day or two. There's only been 2 weather windows here that have let me put up hay that didn't get rained on at all. I made all of that into square bales. Everything else I made into balage.
