My son bought it new this year, we can't keep the belts(2) on. especially the right one when you hit something or run into tall grass, the belt eather turns over or jumps off. And sometimes it is the left one or both. We have put new ones on, to no avail. It is 7ft wide with 3 blades. We are pulling it with a 50 engine hp JD, it doesn't seem like the blades turn fast enough. Has anybody had any experience with these mowers?

What is you PTO speed? 540 or is it meant to run at 1000?
You need to keep ground speed down if blade speed is slow

Let a guy talk me into selling 6 of the maschio tillers one time. The were made in Italy. Ended up giving about half the customers their money back they were close to junk. Have no experience with the finish mower but 50 hp on 7ft could be just a tad much. You may just be overpowering the thing and throwing the belts off or the unit could be made for a tractor with 1000 pto.

It's 540 the pto will go on both ways, big splines on each end. 4 mph is as fast as it will mow well. My neighbor has a Land Pride and it will mow 7 mph he says. It is made well, the guage wheels are a better design than the Land Pride (a lot heavier) The paint is good and the weld's are smooth. I guess we just will have to go slow, and keep the grass short.

Neighbor has one. He had belt troubles too. His was a problem in the pulley alignment. The gear case pulley was too high. It would flip the belts. Aliened the pulleys, loosen set screws, used a straight edge. He has had no troubles with the belts since.
As far as blade speed he was using a 3000 Ford and they get to 540 pto speed at about 1700 engine rpm. He ran it faster than that and it cut well. If your tractor does not get to pto speed until it is about wide open than you would not have as high of blade speed.

Maschio makes some heavy duty tillers that are among the best on the market. I guess they could have some lemons too. Dave

Had asked a while back about what throttle speed you had to run tractor to get your 540 rpm. 99% said 3/4 to full throttle, so maybe you are trying to run engine to slow.
