Got a job comeing up, new water well, windmill, 2000 ft. water lines, 8 stock tanks. but I cant find any good quality automatic shut off water valves for on the stock tanks. only ones I can find have great big ball float or cheaply made stiofoam floats. tanks will be used by racehorses so I need good quality compact ones system will be gravity fed with around 40 psi. anyone know where I can find any? thanks.

Do you have power avaiable at the tanks? Or you could generate power with the windmill and solar panels. You could use an electronic sensing system and solinold operated valves seeing as money is no matter to race horse owners...

Talk them into the drink bowls like you find in old dairy loafing stalls. Much easier to clean, no moss, etc.

HIGH DAVE: I agree with you 100% I have them in my horse barn and I have no problems with them at all. I have all of them INS, so they dont freez in the winter and they dont.

I am with Nancy below on the Nelson waterers. Have 3 giving absolutely trouble free service. They are pricey, but only have to scrub the bowl occasionally.

Good Luck whatever you do,

Kirk

We have a Nelson 721 and it's great. A lot easier to clean than other brands, and has worked fine down to -30F. Only had the valve stick and overflow once due to buildup on the valve plunger. Replaced it with a new one with a stainless steel plunger. I'd recommend installing the new upgraded valve with the stainless plunger, as they seem to work smoother than the all plastic valve. They're under $20 from Nelson.
