1938 Avery Ro-Trak

Looking for information on the value of a 1938 Avery Ro-Trak.

Any help would be appreciated.

These are a very rare tractor and it has been a challenge to put a value on one because they are so rare.

Well, my Uncle Frank had one once upon a time. It was quite powerful with the 6 cyl. Hercules engine, but in a heavy pull in low gear it would tear it's differential (spider) gears out. Avery replaced them 3 times for free, but the 4th time it happened Avery was unable to do anything because they were nearly broke (1941) so Uncle traded the Avery in on a new Farmall H. The linkages on the steering were also troublesome...what with the "nifty" adjustable front wheel tread (wide for plowing, tillage work, and most other uses, but narrow for planting and cultivating) the geometry of the steering was difficult to maintain and several parts got bent and had to be replaced at different times. The added weight of the mounted cultivators made the tractor steer very hard and the tie rods and steering arms got bent very easily if you forced the steering wheel at all. The brakes weren't capable of stopping the tractor with a loaded wagon in tow. Ro-traks these days are few...I know of 1 owned by a man named Morton in Saline, MI. There is some info on them in Wendell's History of American Farm Tractors. My Grandfather was actually a Avery Power Machinery dealer and had a big steel thresher which was very good in it's day....sadly the Ro-traks weren't.
