case ih Scout

Does anyone know who is making the scout for case ih or the rustler for new holland? And does anyone have an opinion on these machines. Thanks Paul.

We had a 4 seat Scout diesel loaned to us for our county fair, and I was not impressed. It was long, loud, slow, and didn"t ride as well as the others. It seemed as though the workers fought over the Kawasaki Teryx or the John Deere XUV. We also had a couple of Kawasaki Mules that I thought were better than the Scout.

Club Car builds it. The diesel is loud.
But, to compare it to the Kawasaki Teryx is not a fair comparison. That is a performance utility vehicle (a go fast utv).

Now, compare the Scout or Rustler gas version 2 seaters to the base Mules or JD Gators and everything is on a level playing field. I have driven all of these and prefer the Scout/Rustler.

I would put the Teryx up to the Polaris performance vehicle.

I disagree that you cannot compare the Scout to a Teryx. I consider the Polaris Razor the only performance xuv on the market.

Most of the farmers around here have Yamaha Rhinos or Teryxs. Speed and comfort seem to make up for the smaller bed size. If a Rhino or Teryx wont do the job....you should probably be using your pickup anyway.

I figure that the only people that buy Scouts and Gators were die hard brand specific guys that cared more about paint color than anything.

A close friend of mine has a Kubota, Mule, and a Rhino. The Rhino get used more than the other 2 units combined.

Wow, I would challenge you to do some more research. The Teryx, after I did more research, is classified as a RUV, recreational utility vehicle.

Below is a link to reviews comparing the 2009 lineup.

But even JD has a entry into the developing class of crossover utility vehicles, or xuv.

I find it almost like comparing a large compact tractor to a utility tractor. The compact may be light with the horsepower to do pto applications, but when doing grunt labor where tractor weight is important, the utility tractor will eat its lunch and leave the compact spinning.
They are in different classes and not the same.

Paul, the big difference is the drive train. The Kubota is a hydrostatic I believe and the Case IH Scout/ NH Rustler are belt driven. I think the Kubota also has power steering.
