Someone took my handle

I tried posting a message today and someone took my handle Dale L. . I guess I should have reserved it as mine. Just wondering if someone is trying a scam or this happens often?

it happens some, dale is a pretty common name the initials could stand for something different than you too it would be a good idea to make a new name and reserve it imeadiatly so only you can use it

The name I go by is Dale but my first name is Maxwell thus "Oldmax" You might try finding a name or using part of Dale such as Old-Dale or dalexx using your birth year as the xx.

Guess I'm gonna throw a wrench in the works by asking, What's wrong with using your given name. There usually isn't anyone else with it so it won't be coppied. Just my thoughts, Keith

Notice that I agree. As I age, remembering my name is enough. How does one remember a "handle"? Is it a game,or do people think it helpssecurity, or keeps them more anonymous? Anyone who thinks they have much privacy today is deluded.

Had my unregistered handle taken a couple of times. Could use my name I guess but there are 7 seven Gary Wilsons in my bank alone good thing is I alwas say "not this Gary". Not trying to hide, but mabe I should!

I had that problem three times with this board. I personaly think it is more of a computer thing / automation.

I have never seen my handle used ever. It could easy be my isues with my computer being cleaned up, erasing cookies etc.

Well, if you didn't reserve it what could you expect. I'm sure it wasn't intentional so when you pick a new one "reserve" it.
PS. Pick one we like and you'll get responses....

Keith,
In my town there's 3 other guys with the same name as mind ... only the middle name is different .. { keeps mailman awake }

So I just use a easy name that I can remember and like ...

Yes, I can see where that could happen. When we were stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, I had a bank account, deposited every month & checks started bouncing. Turned out there was another person with same 1st & last name but never could figure out why the account # mix up-they weren't the same, in fact our colors weren't the same LOL. Caused me quite a bit of trouble till one of the cashiers took my account home over the weekend and got it figured out. Wonder if they would do that these days, that was customer service. Keith

I've had the nicknames "Buzz" or "Buzzman" since junior high...and the numbers just happen to be the year I graduated high school. Not hard to remember.

Now,if you DON'T have a nickname, I can understand how remembering your handle ould be difficult. But I'm not hiding from anyone; those who know me, know my nickname AND my handle, and those that don't know me...well, I have no reason to hide from folks who don't know me.

And privacy? Never gave that part much thought.

That Handle isn't bad if taken for what it's meant to be. A little amusing But you probably have a whole bucket of em.

bet I have removed a pickup load of them over the years, started when I was round 10, Im 56 now and still no end in sight, never knew they made so many rusted nuts.

You need to make only a minor change to keep it similar and keep using it. ie, mine was JMS/MN, and I inadvertently put a period in it when I registered, making it JMS/.MN. Have to use it that way now. Remember, this is computers, and one keystroke makes a big difference.

Try e-mailing the administrator on the site. Mine got taken a while back and I e-mailed the administrator and got mine back since no on posted wtih my name. It seems spammers or something have a computer program that grabs them or something.
