OT-need to repair a PVC pipe

The wife hit a cleanout for the septic pipe with the mower. Took out a 1 1/2"x2" chunk at the top of the pipe where the cap screws in.
I'm thinking if I can glue a small sheet of styrene to the outside as a form, and use some plastic wrap taped to the inside and screw the cap in to form the inside, I could maybe fix it with some epoxy so I dont have to do a lot of digging to cut out the pipe and put a new top on. Any suggestion on which Epoxy to use and do you think it will work?

Can you use one of those neophrene couplings using hose clamps? I used one of those on my kitchen sink drain pipe. I replaced the copper pipe and used one of those couplings to connect it to the copper pipe in the basement. I used copper pipe that was a lot thicker. The old pipe seem to be eaten out and wasn't very thick. Using the garbage disposal may have been the culprit. Hal

Its a cleanout. Why would you even worry about it. Dig out a little bit around it and put a small paint bucket or something like that over it and back fill as requred. That way the next time she hits it'll be an easy fix.
Be grateful at least she's mowing........

After working with many plastic and PVC irrigation systems on farms I will be the first to say to fix it right once. Replace the part, back fill and raise the grade up a few inches to keep the mower away from it. That may not be a fun repair to make in the cold winter months if you have an issue with it, or if something else in the system happens that may require you to remove the cap. Just my .02

Dig it out (a foot around and 6 to 8"deep
Use a sawsall to cut off the threaded coupling.
Buy a new one, and some solvent cement (small can) and glue the new one on. It will be lower Which is very good. Jim

Toro, that just may do it. My biggest concern was critters getting in, heard to many stories about snakes coming up through the toilet and such. It's gonna get a small deck over it in the future so I didn't want to do more that necessary. (It'll have an access)

I would dig it down, and cut off the broken part, get a new piece, like others have mentioned. Probably need a coupling. It is more than likely the material is ABS if it is black, and takes glue for ABS pipe. Not big problem. I usually cut off at least one a year mowing. Stan

There's a special saw made on a drill arbor, you cut the pipe from the inside, and cut it low enough so that when you put the new cap on it, the cap us flush with the ground. Kill 2 birds with one stone, fix it, and prevent another hit. Oh, and don't glue it back together, when and if you go to use the cleanout, you don't have to worry about anything being stuck, either the cap unthreads, or the coupler slips off, just easier to access.

PVC pipe can be cut with mason line. It takes a while but it does work. This is sometimes handy when working below grade.
