O/T Best Way to Sell a Shotgun

Several years ago, I won a 20 ga Browning pump with choke tubes at a Ruffed Grouse Society banquet. I shot one round of trap with it. I'm thinking about selling it. One of the auctioneers seems to get good prices at the auctions I've attended. He has an auction coming up in August that has lots of hunting/fishing stuff and collectibles. Sounds like it might be the best chance to get the most buyers. Any thoughts?

Might be the way to go depending on what percentage he takes from the final figure. Another thing to consider is putting a minimum bid on the shotgun.
Finally, another way to sell it is to list it on gunbroker.com. I have bought quite a few guns from this site and am very satisfied. Details on how to buy and how to sell are listed on the site.

Sounds like a good plan. For some reason live auctions and guns seem to bring out the stupid in people and their willingness to throw their money away. I don't know how many times I've watched used (or used up) firearms sell for new or higher than new price. Usually the cheaper the gun the more over new price it sells for.

I know what you mean. I went to a gun auction once. It was interesting, but I ended up sitting with my hands in my pockets watching the money fly.

It's your decision but I'd keep it. Years ago my dad won a new at the time pre 64 Winchester mod 12 16 gauge. He gave it away. A couple years ago my uncle traded around and got it back and gave it to me. It is now one of my prized posessions. Everytime I oil it I can think of him and my uncle.

Personally, if the gun has no paper trail [as in previous registration], I'd prefer NOT to sell it at auction. WHY? Because auctioneers around here run all their transactions through FFL dealers, who are REQUIRED to record the transaction. I'd rather the government not know whether or not I have any guns [which they may infer, if I'm listed as a seller on their paperwork]. I'd rather sell to a private party who is known to me.

You would be a fool to sell it.The paper trail is broken so keep it. It will be impossible to buy a firearm soon.
