Any of you guys getting better checks from the dairy? Here in NE IN butter has been close to $2/lb for a long time, today at the store it was over $4/lb.

buzzman check the us bureau of labor statistics 12% of workers are responsible ??????
In 2009, the union membership rate--the percent of wage and salary
workers who were members of a union--was 12.3 percent,

And of that 12.3%, just under half were federal employees. So that means that only around 7% of the civillian workforce [being generous] is responsible for all the evils that befall us. At least that's what a significant percentage of those who post on these forums believe with all their hearts and souls. Do I believe it? Nope...but I'm through arguing with them. If they say the unions are the root of all evil in America, then so be it. I'm on board. The unions have corrupted government, they've destroyed all of our businesses, and they singlehandedly elected the current occupant of the White House. And I suspect they're also responsble for tooth decay and cancer.

you must be one of those guys voted for the socialist cause he promised you a job.....didn't deliver many though did he....why not place the blame where it belongs.....

Look, pal--NOW you've pizzed me off. I never voted for the man in the White House. I don't trust him any further than I can throw the building he lives in. I wasn't promised anything, I wouldn't have believed him if he did promise me anything, and I didn't vote for him. So what did he promise YOU for voting for him?

No, the blame belongs on the unions...last week that thought predominated the comments on these forums. Since I got tired of their arguments, I decided to join them. So whatever's wrong in America, the unions caused it. Case closed.

Play nice boys................ Back to the original subject, not sure who is responsible, but just paid a little under a buck (including 19% tax) a pound for butter at the store yesterday. Everyone is insured, fuel costs twice as much as in the States, yadda yadda.

It might have something to do with the EPA Classifying butter as a toxic polutant in the same classification as oil. In fact they classified all dairy products in the same category as oil. All dairies and production companies such as kraft and highland will now have to meet or exceed the same regulations as the oil industry and refineries. Can't be transported the same way either. It goes on and on.

What stores do you have there? At Hy-Vee, it's $1.68 a pound. Same with Fareway and Dahl's. We used to have Safeway here but they went out of business-too high of prices. I know there are stores with names like Kroger and Food Lion, but they've never caught on here. Maybe it's because our stores compete and these others don't?

Butter has been way cheap here for years. I feel guilty every time I buy groceries cuz I know some poor farmer is starving. I buy all I can eat but there is a limit.

I read somewhere recently its more like 5% of the civilian workforce.Probably less now with all the unemployment.
I know what you are saying. Some people will never believe the truth. If it wasnt for unions, nobody would make what they do now. There would not be a middle class. This would be just like China with slave wages.

Dunno. Don't think it's changed here....

But I would suspect that if the price of fluid is dropping and butter is going up and if everyone's had the heatwave that we've been getting for the last week or two... then I'd think it quite reasonable that BF production has pretty much tanked. I know it has here... So they're probably just short of fat to make butter and are mabey sourcing more fluid to try and keep up... then selling hte fluid off cheap to get rid of it... so I spose we're now due to have another flood of powder or MPC on the market.
