Steering column bearings

Have a MF-180 diesel tractor. I"m in search of the steering column bearings. Ref MF part #833-462-m1. Timkin sold to Koyo who since have stopped making bearing. Can any one help me locate or have a repair idea that is tested and proven. I have searched for bearings close to dims and can machine shaft to fit but all I found require removal of to much material from hollow shaft. Thank you, Lewis

Actually, rather than removing material, I was thinking of sleeving it and maybe you could find a bearing with a larger inside diameter??

I had looked at that, but that would require modification of several pcs. the shaft is worn so I can grind it, chrome it than regrind to size. The bearing is only 2-1/8 o.d with 1-7/8 i.d. 1/2 thick. The closest I can find is 1-3/4 i.d. My EZ fix would just be a cintered bearing , but I'd like to keep thing original just in case the tractor one day has a new owner and he won't have to figuire out my backyard engineering.

I wasn"t aware of Koyo not making bearings anymore because I have a bunch on my shelf at work some are recent, any way I wouldn"t give up the ghost yet. A couple things needed to know what type of bearings are they; Quill (cone and cup), ball or tapered roller from there all is needed is shaft size or ID outer race size or OD and bearing width. If it is a quill type it may need shims to load it but they may still be in place. Timken has a website that can match the bearing to your size and info input.

You need to tell Timkin that they are out of business. Here is their web site.

Also I called a buddy of mine that is the parts man at the local Agco dealer. He found the bearing you asked about in less than two minutes. IN stock at the warehouse could have in two days.

I am guessing that who ever is your local Agco dealer just does not want to take the time to learn how to find MF parts. I have a dealer to my west that was an AC dealer his parts guys tell me all of the time that things are not available. I many times call the Dealer to my north that was not any of the old lines and his parts guys usually find them available.
