O/T 04 Chevy 2500HD question

Hey Guys:

On my 4x4 2500HD, I want to check the front axle lube. I crawled under it and on the drivers side about half way up above the cv joint, I saw a plug in the housing sideways (positioned as the wheel would be mounted to the hub). Is this the fill/check plug? Is there a drain plug?

Usually no drain plug. You have to pull the cover to drain them. The plug on the side should be the level. Pull it & see.

the drain plug and fill plug should be on the left side. upper plug should be 15mm. david
