Water heater problem again again not sure what the

Well pull out that lower element and yep it was bad but only about a week maybe 2 weeks old. It was missing about 2 inches of it so it was extra bad. Now how in the world would it burn out so much even if the thermostat was bad it should have tripped the breaker or the over load or something. Good thing is I found out today when I call Maytag about it that is it still under warranty so any thing I buy for it is covered and they will apy for the parts

Water will usually not conduct enough current to trip a breaker (unless it is GFI protected, which it is not).
Breakers do not trip from "open" circuits.
I'll still bet on a bad batch of elements.
A leak into the core through the (often) inconel exterior of the element will cause serious deterioration rapidly. Missing element is an indicator toward this.
Unless it is actually running out of water in the heater tank (element exposed) it should boil water for years without burning out. Jim

Jim I agree with your logic on this but still seems odd to get 2 or 3 of them in a row but ya could be the same lot number on them also. Talked to the manager of the hard ware store about it also and he agreed with what we are thinking also so swapped it out not questions asked. If this one holds up for a week I'll take this one I pulled back and get a new one just to hang on the wall so I have a back up on hand. If I had not lost the recipe on the first one I would not have had 2 of them burning out in less then 2 weeks so maybe this will be a blessing LOL

It has 1.5 years left on a warranty of 10 years so maybe that could be the problem. I book marked that so I can look it over later and maybe I'll call Maytag back and ask them also.
