crack in 12v coil

I have found a crack on my 12v coil.Will this cause the plug not to fire?

Yes, eventually dirt and moisture will get into the crack. Cheap part to replace, just replace it.

The coil is running too hot,find out why before you put a new coil on the tractor.

Sounds like you have an engine that is not running and your asking if the coil is the problem. Could well be but can only maybe guess since you do not give much info. Most coils are filled with an oil so as to keep them cool and insulated and if cracked they will short out and not work

Thank for comments and you are right my 1947 8n will not run no spark to the plugs. I have change out pionts and condenser but still no fire coming out of distributor.Wonder if this crack was the problem.

Front mount coils on the N series tractor are very common to go bad and yes if it is cracked it is 100% bad
