Tractors in Iraq

Well he's some pics of tractor in Iraq. I don't suppose there's anything to be jealous of. Most of the farm fields a small, almost garden size. There's not much room to grow anything, there's probably only a mile wide swath along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in the Anbar Province. Dates are a big crop, but I've seen wheat, corn, melons and I think lavender. The pics aren't great, they were taken from a moving vehicle. We don't stop to say Hi. Saw one New Holland, A few Massey Fergusons and Tafe's, and a lot of Russian looking tractors. They usually have the wagon made from a truck frame. Most often they have a load of building materials and will load as much as they can get in the wagon.

I'm in Balad and traveled from Talli north.I saw a lot of zetor 3320s, small new holland combine with tracks. I've seen rice also. From Black Hawks I saw a lot of circular irigation systems. On msr tampa there was a storage area of new valley systems that came through France during the boycott after the gulf war. Tomatoes are a small-big crop outside Balad as well as grapes. Weather today was sunshine and 120deg.

120? Must be cooling off. Get to use that olympic size swimming pool yet?

THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE! and the pictures too.

Prolly don't see too many AC cab tractors do you?

I am almost certain that is an older Zetor tractor (Czech ) maybe one of the "??18" series. The ones ending in 18 were 2 wheel drive, the ones ending in 48 were 4 wheel drive. So, for example a 6748 was the 4 wheel drive version of the 6718.

Thank you for your service.

Keep safe and welcome back home soon.

Liked the "self service" station in photo 2.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

I forgot to mention that's how a lot of the gas stations are in town. Just a 20' container with a tank, pump and a generator. It's not self serve though, there's a guy sitting off to the side that's the attendant. No below ground tank here. A lot of times they just take an old tanker an set it on a mound of dirt. A lot are leaky, but there's no Iraqi EPA.
