want to help your post man out by makeing him more money take all your juck mail with return letters in it and mail them back where thay come form all are post free so it dose not cost you any thing but a little time do not put your return address on the letter just stuff them and send it back it work my juck mail has gone down in the last 6 mo. when i start to do this

I rip my name off each of the items but I return the junk from a different sender to each of the original senders.

I understand your frustration with junk mail. When you return an enclosed postage paid envelope it usually dosn't have any info to identify you. So it dosn't really help your junk mail volume to return it. If the junk mail has bulk rate postage it is incinerated by the PO if you try to return it. There are companys that collect our names and address by the tens of thousands and sell them to bulk rate mailers. It's like the weather, you can complain but it an't gonna stop.

My dad and I have been doing that for years. It helps to vent some of the frustration at the junk we get.
Your just adding mail loads that post office can't handle. And at reduced junk mail rates. The taxpayer is paying for you to send that junk back! Knock it off!
If they were not a government operation, they would have been out of business long ago. Should be forced to run like a real business or get out and let private sector take over any profitable parts.

Ya. just imagine how happy the postman would be if everyone did that? 100 degrees and he's walking around with more in his bag than he started with. I know that would make me happy.

Please explain why your "juck mail" [sic] volume should go down when you send back return envelopes with no address. Are junk mailers clairvoyant?
This is what really happens. You stuff a business reply envelope with junk and throw it in the mail,it goes to the post office of the zipcode . It is bundled with the rest of the business reply letters for that address and the bundle is weighed. Postage at first class rate is deducted from a prexisting account the company has already established. The company is also charged an annual fee for that acount.
Regular junk mail"(bulk rate, standard) is just sent to the usps regional recycling center.
The post office has not used one dime of taxpayer money since I think 1978,in fact up until a couple of years ago the PO was the only Govt. agency that not only made a profit but returned money to the treasury.
They are also the only company I have ever heard of that thinks it's good practice to cut services and raise prices in bad times.
