Got home today, the weather station said it was 96.8 degrees. The local TV station did a bit on leaving pets in cars. They showed cool temp of 67 with air on. Left it in the parking lot for 1 hr. and it was 132 degrees inside. My son is a mason and they poured and finished 32yds. of concrete in downtown Schnectday today. He said street temp. was 110d. and needed gloves to pick up tools and move steel forming equipment. Also heard that two workers got stranded in a 100' high water tank they were sandblasting when their suspended platform became entangled. A major rescue had to be mounted as temps. inside were 120.Any way. found these people staying cool on the NYS barge canal at the Fort Plain Locks.PS it's now 8:53 Still 76.1d here.
Sorry for the duplicate pic.

PS: Thanks for saying concrete vs cement!

94 was high in central Tex today that is cool for us in July, winds are out of SE when they switch to SW look out we will get to 105

"Cement" bugs you too, eh?

I had an SIU campus news reporter interviewing me on an intersection job. He was taking notes, and when we got done I said, "Don't call this stuff cement - it's concrete. Cement is a concrete ingredient".

He got a funny look on his face and erased all over the page.

He was a good kid, and wrote a pretty informative article, with no mention of cement.

we poured concrete also 102 degreees in cetral nj it set up very fast! then we went to the next job on the edge of a blacktop parking lot to replace some curbing Still happy to have a job , lots of people arent working. Saw the boss around 1030 he drove by in his cadalac rolled down the window and said its hot today, be careful.., never saw him or heard from him for the rest of the dsy.
He is the boss now,/ the bosses stepson and is younger than all three of us workers.

I keep correcting my wife. I tell her cement is mixed with sand and water to form concrete.

Goes in one ear and out the other.

BTW, once about 30 years ago, I spent an afternoon pouring concrete. I finished about 5 o'clock and headed for home. Heard on the car radio the temp was still 106.

I said I was glad I didn't know that while I was working concrete.
