not a real good combination...... lotta careers down the drain today. DUI's, assault, emergency rooms (alcohol poisoning), accidents (falling or being thrown out of barracks windows........

I hate having night shift on holiday weekends...........

Done now...

Dave, I'm guessing you're a part of an MP group and have a job to do and I'm assuming you have taken part in a warzone operation where you're dropped in a lawless society where attackers come from nowhere then it is kill or be killed and that can go on for months. I'm not saying what is happening is OK but some simbalance of understanding is in order and I know commanders want to make sure we present a good side to the public and locals. The fact that some of these young folks just left highschool and were dropped in a warzone and will feel the effects for a lifetime.Been there done that. CT

I actually did fall out of a barracks, going up the steps between second and third floors. Luckily, each level had a wide "roof", (hot jungle territory with screens, not glass) and I caught myself on the windowsill. Missed the handrail on the right side, went through the screen on the left side. Made the "mistake?" of going to a promotion party, where an E6 with 12 years in grade, made E7-he joined SF to make rank, and we had a reputation for being pretty rank- he invited all of our Special Forces group to celebrate with him at the club- first floor was for enlisted, second for officers- he opened up both bars for all. So we went! Very interesting comments at the formation the next morning! Like, "why is that screen missing way up there?- as if the buddies had no clue!. Luckily, it was payday, so did not have to report for the rest of the day.

these are all good kids for the most part and I'd never hold having a good time against them. There is no excuse in the world for getting nearly unconscious and making a fool out of yourself in public though. Still can't blame the young soldiers. I hold the leadership entirely to blame. Maybe that's just me though.
I'm no saint and have done some goofy stuff also, but had the good fortune of haveing good leadership to show me the error of my ways.

Aside from the shinanigans, today's volunteer troops are a top knotch group that we all can be proud of.

I'm so glad they came out with General Order 1 and banned alcohol from combat zones, like Afghanistan where I am now. It makes me mad and embarrasses me when guys (and gals) get drunk and make fools of themselves in public....especially in a foreign country. I saw it too much in Korea and Egypt. We're supposed to be representing the US and it is wrong to act like fools.
