fixing to leave soon Another concern is I wish to take my grill with propane tank, and generator on open 2 wheel trailer behind slide in camper. Will this cause problem at border?? I have u.s. approved 20 lb cylinders or tanks, can they be exchanged in canada (blue rino exchange) as the gas refrigiator will possibly need a refill.

I am not familiar with that brand but there are lots of places to exchange cylinders as well as refill facilities. As long as the tank is less than 10 years old it shouldn't be a problem.

I believe as long as it has the newer style fitting it will not be a problem, the one with the coarse external threads as opposed to the fine internal threads that are counterclockwise to tighten.
Depending on where you are going you should be able to find a Canadian Tire or Wal-Mart that will have an exchange service as well as many gas stations.
As far as the border goes, I don't think there should be any problems at all. I have seen vehicles coming in that have been loaded to the rafters so to speak with all manner of outdoor equipment. They may go through it all but as long as you are honest about what you are bringing with you there should be no problems. I think the biggest thing is firearms/weapns or ammunition which can be brought in with proper paperwork. If in doubt call Canada Border Services or better yet to cut through an extensive automated answering system go to their website
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/noncan-eng.html .
If you have any specific concerns about a particular crossing I could probably find a phone number to that particular crossing for you. I also know a few people who work at Canada Customs locally.

Hi Wilson there are several easy to find refill facilities on camp grounds and general stores. If your tank is recent it may be preferable to refill it because if you exchange it they may give you an older tank close to expiration date that you will no be able to exchange when you return home.
