In the hayfield at 5am; just shut off the big tractor at 8pm after switching to summer fallow at midday.

Think somewhere I must have missed a turn 'er something.

15 hour days. Are we really sure these are the "golden years"?

My brother used to say, "The golden years sure has a lot of tarnish on em"

Don't think ya missed a turn, the end of your fields must land somewhere near the Ohio border judging from some of your pics. (grin)

Boy I know what your sayin !! I am in part of the country that has had rain every other day all spring untill 2 weeks or so ago . I just finished 1st cutting day before yesterday , raked up some oats to bale yesterday , today will be about 9 hours mowing down a field of alfalfa that is more purple than green . I really like to go at these things a little slower and spaced out , finish one before I start another . Another week or so I will be cought up , dont think I ever been this far behind , I know I m wore out and everything hurts !! Just remembered all them bales need moved , had 2 that roled over the hill , cows can get them this winter .

hey allen, it's the metallic years; silver in your hair, gold in your teeth and lead in your butt. i think we all enjoy being busy.

just remember, we were all on here typing in the winter and early spring and couldnt wait to get started outside!! next winter we will probably do the same, are we crazy???? lol

Allan, What kind of rotation do you use? Every other, every 2nd, or what? What's the annual rainfall there?
have a friend who owns a 5000 acre ranch 25 miles south of Hot Springs. Pretty dry there except this year.
How do you control the weeds? Spray or cultivate?

I put in 17 hours yesterday, I hauled 100 bales 12 miles one way and ground a load of feed. I put in a pretty good week of no less than 12 hours a day. At least it was cooler and the humidity was lower. Of course I"m not near as OLD as you :>))

folks i got it figured out, the "golden years", are when your 4 to 8 years old, your old enough to follow the men around and see all that the farmers do, but your too young for any of them to make you work lol
