Bearing Season

Man! I don't think there is a better time of year for a bearing salesman than hay season! I can't seem to replace them quick enough to get going again. Mowers, rakes, balers, even tractors. Maybe I am just due.
Lost My Bearings

nice website. Was going to say check the baler for hot bearings but see your balerman found the bad one already. Better luck tomorrow.

Seems like when its time to cut, rake and bale, things go wrong even though you checked all the equipment, greased/oiled it, etc.

Don't think we've had a single cut, rake, bale operation go without a hitch yet.

Keep us in your thoughts (prayers?). We're supposed to cut the bahaia Saturday.

At least we got everything mowed baled up today. Baler Man had to get his old baler back from dealer where it was on consignment. His new baler needs a new end-gate, belts, a roller, and some bearings. The estimate $5500. Ouch!

I am like you in that its the season for bearings. I totally rebuilt my baler two years ago. Replacing every bearing on it. The originals lasted through 25000 bales, with only two failing. I have only baled 4500 on these new bearings and have had four bad so far.
You might tell this tip to your baler man, another custom guy told me about doing it. I have a laser thermometer. I stop several times a day and check all of the roll bearing on the baler. Does not take a minute. Just point and shoot. Saved me a few roll shafts and holders over the years.
