Anyone remember a John Deere ag / ind dealer on Milwaukee Ave, Wheeling, Illinois? Believe the name was Stavros. Would love to see some photos of the dealership as remember my Dad taking me there in the early '50's for my John Deere toys. Ah, what great memories!

I also went there with my dad but i was born in 1941 so most of my trips there were during the time Otto Anderson owned the dealership. he realy know how to run a jd store he started there in about 1934. sold to Stavros in the winter of 49- 50 they ran that place into the ground in a very short time. i now live in South Dakota am retired farmer and jd mach.

Thanks! Didn't know the Anderson operation, born in '49 and lived on small farm on what is now O'hare Field. Believe Stavros switched with the times to JD construction equip as knew a secretary who worked there in the 70's. However, best memories are seing the old 2 cylinders out there.

Funny you should mention ag dealers in Wheeling. I just received the line ticket for my IH truck. It says the truck was shipped to Gilmore International on Palatine Rd., in Wheeling. Were they a full line dealer? Just wondering if you or anyone else knows of them. Sorry to hijack your post.

Not aware of IH ag dealer in Wheeling. Later years (60's thru 80's) Lewis Intl & Payline Stores were IH Industrial located on Palatine Rd, Wheeling. Don't believe they had IH Motor Trucks.
There was Garlisch IH on Rt.72 in Elk Grove. The building is still there and now a rental store. Grandfather bought Farmall C there in '51 I believe.
