Had a cheap China 3/4 drive socket set for working on tractors. No air tools here.
Broke the breaker bar about 8 years ago and the rachet died last fall. Made a deal with a guy I know on some new handles for my sockets a couple of months ago but never actually finished the deal.
I didn't remember what they were just knew they were decent brands - a rachet and breaker.
Will be needing them soon so I scrounged up the dough and he delivered them this week. Craftsman rachet, SK breaker and I didn't know I'd even bought it but an Owatonna slide hammer.
Cool.
It's true.

My cheap 3/4 drive ratchet lasted me for probably fifteen years until it hit a tree going about 50 MPH. It came apart.

Got a 1/2 drive Craftsman rachet I got as a kid 65 yrs. ago It is still good. Use a cheater on it quite often.

as a kid of 14 some 47 years ago i got a set of craftsman tools for christmas. still have about 98% of them although a few have been replaced along the years. lost 2 sockets, 1 in the bumper of a 63 chevy and 1 in the attic of a house. when 2 sons started using and scattering them i promptly purchased them a set. recently got my dads tools when we cleaned out mom's house when she moved into assisted living.

Same deal- Dad gave me a 1/2 drive SK set for Christmas when I was about 16 (I'll be 62 next month). Finally lost one socket about 10 years ago- but watched swap meets, and got an exact replacement.

Always wanted a 3/4 drive set, but didn't want Chinese junk, and unwilling to pay the price of a good set. Helped a lady with some estate problems after her husband's passing- she said she didn't have any money to pay, but how about a tour of Bob's shop? Found an old and well used 3/4 set, but Craftsman and still looked servicable, so a deal was struck.

Hello Ultradon MN,
If you want that wratchet to last a couple of generations you HAVE to oil it! NO GREASE!
Best way to do that, stick the head on some oil overnight. Shake the excess oil, and you will be good to go. No more metal to metal noise as you are wrenching! THat noise is like nails on a chalk board to me@#$%%^&*
