disc harrow power?

There is 16 foot disc harrow for sale at an auction sale on Saturday. I have a New Holland TS110 (90 hp.). Do I have the power to pull a 16 foot disc or should I wait till I find one smaller?
Chas.

It depends upon the disc, your ground and tractor ballast, Chas. It's a lot of disc if it's a heavy one.

Depends... If the tractor is MFWD and the disc is a tandem on the lighter side, then yes, it will pull that easily.
If it's an offset.... No.
If it's a very heavy tandem it will no doubt get by but may be a workout.
If it's 2WD, all bets are off unless you've got duals and a bunch of ballast.

I pulled a 21 ft IH490 with 80 hp JD 830 with duals in stalks a couple inches deep. Couldn't pull it with it sunk to the hubs, not enough traction. So as was stated earlier, if it is an offset disk made for deep tillage better pass, otherwise buy it. Also have a 14 ft JD BWA that was a good match for the 730 but only a toy for the 830. Finally have a 18 ft IH 480 that was a good match for 830 but for the 730 it was quite a task.

What Dean and Rod said.

I will only add to what that said by say'n it depends on what kinda work you are go'n to be do'n with it. If your just going to be scratch'n the top on some pasture ground you are reseed'n it will work much better than if you are going to be pulling it axle deep on wet hillsides.

My 44 Farmall M runs out of traction pulling my 10' IH #37 disc w/ 20" blades. No counterweight. But good tires. Will pull it about 6" deep no problem, but spins the tires if I sink it to the axles. I'd think you'll have no problem with power but may need weights and duals if you don't already have em.
