Cut some hay yesterday, with pics

Forcast is all clear so I cut some hay yesterday after work.

First and second pics are my cutting rig a JD730D and a NH 477.

Third pic is me getting into a rytem with the old 2 banger.

Fourth pic a couple of Bucks come out to chow. It's amazing how tame they are when your on the tractor.

Fifth pic is the wife helping out on HER tractor.

Now all I need to do is track down some Amish boys to help me pick it up!

Looks like you've got some really good hay.

Got the right color tractor for cutting/conditioning.

Always a good idea to get the wife involved in the hay operation; especially using her tractor.

Let us know how much hay you wind up with.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Always enjoy seeing other folks from other parts of the country.

Nice pics. I always liked the looks of the 730 more than the 720, just personal preference, I guess.

Just had my semi-annual appointment with dermatologist to cut/burn off small basal cell carcinomas. 5 this time. "Fair-haired farmboy syndrome", they call it.

Please wear a straw hat.

Really like the JD.

I might get to ted some hay if we ever get our tedder out of the shop.

We"re getting some much needed rain right now thanks to Alex.

Hope to cut the bahaia fields this w/e. Will post pics & vids.

Where is the real 730. I supose you were trying to sneek up on those 4 legged ones on the camoflauged 730 Which deer ran better?
Looks like you will have lots to feed the heard and some game to feed you. Nice pics. Send some more when baling.

I am just the opposite, nothing wrong with the 30 series, but I like the 20 series better. I guess because they are still styled like the older tractors. Very nice 730, a 730 diesel was the first diesel tractor that I ran. Back in 1959.

Nancy,
I'm glad you are getting something out of Alex. We haven't gotten anything down here in Montgomery County yet. They are predicting 3-5 inches for the Houston area but nothing so far. We are about 11 inches behind.

Thanks for the nice comments. I didn't start cutting until 5 PM so the sun wasn't to bad, but I will try to be careful.

Ad Case Guy you are killing me.....

Don't worry the deer will be gone by the time hunting season starts. They have it marked on their calendar :>)....

The CASE 730 will come out when the baling starts..

I'll try to post some pics then.

Very, very, very good. Its a family thing that everyone can take pride and stock in. I'm glad to see your wife has got her own tractor. Does she ever let you operate it, or hands off? Very nice pictures.

Mark

At the end of May we were 10 inches behind. Don't know where we are right now.

Got between 2 and 3 inches at the farm last Friday. Got more today. We were behind in rain there, too.

Any rain at this time of year is a real blessing.

Hope you get a good rain and it comes down easy.

Let us know.

First diesel I drove was in about '64- I was about 15 or 16. I worked for a neighbor, haying with an Allis D14 and a JD 40. Went over one day, boss had a bit of a twinkle in his eye- said "I parked the tractor up in the barn- why don't you run up and get it."

Walked in the barn, and there was a brand new shiny Oliver 550 diesel with Freeman loader. Prettiest thing I ever saw. Started it up, and was instantly hooked on diesel forever. Loved the smell, loved the sound, everything about it.

Drove it down to the house, and I don't know who had the wider grin, me or the boss. He told me later that the look on my face was worth the price, right there. He was the best boss anyone ever had, treated me like a son. RIP, Bob Thomsen.
