Electrical Problems with Kubota M105S and Claas Baler

bought a claas baler this year to go behind M105s. Worked fine for the first few days then someone ripped out the power cord to baler when turning. I re-wired baler to tractor, only has ground and power but it didn"t matter which one I hooked the the battery, both combinations turned the baler monitor on but one way blew the fuse. Not sure why light would turn on no mater which side was hooked to power side. Ever since then nothing but problems with tractor. First dash lights went out, then, fuel gauge, a little later temp guage, then stero, and finally the tractor shut. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be. Did maybe a main fuse blow in the whole process to the alternator and the battery kept getting weaker and weaker shutting down one system at a time until if finally shut down the tractor?

Test tractor battery with a volt/ohm meter. Then if you get tractor running test alternator.

A 12V light will light hooked up positive or negative ground but a bale monitor/electric tie will only function correctly on negative ground.

So I had someone check the battery and it was dead. The alternator must have a blown fuse or not be working. Charged the battery and it started. Stereo works but not sure if the high low and gauges are working yet. If the baler is working does it mean it is wired correctly or could it be reversed. Can power or shorts back flow through fuses?

(quoted from post at 19:57:44 06/30/10) How do you test the alternator with out taking it some where? Can I do it myself?

Get yourself a cheap volt/ohm meter. Crank engine & touch red lead to large post on alt.,touch black lead to ground(frame or alt body),have meter set on 20v DC. If meter reads over 12 volts(should be in the 13.5-14 Volt range if working) then alt is working.
