a friend has a 1993kubota L245dt he has a broke front axle shaft...he says kubota just told him,it was a discontinued part. he siad they also said he shpild beware of buying used grey market tractors...
shaft diff.yok part #35220-43810,,it is front end drive shaft 9 1/2 inchs long,,it has two splines.
 
Been a Kubota dealer for 28 years something going on here..Don,t think the l 245 parts are that hard to find.. Maybe that his dealer does not want to deal with him IF he has purchased a grey market tractor.. That is not the dealer,s fault the company Kubota will not support grey market tractor ..We have been able to convert most of the grey market models do us models..
Will be tomorrow before I can check his part number.
 
Sort of, its a model manufactured for another countries market then imported to another country.
The models are frequently different, missing safety features, parts support, emissions equipment etc.

The companies don't like it because they charge different (lower) markups in different countries as each is a separate sub-company. When they can't get parts it make their brand look bad. They aren't trained to work on many of them etc.
 
Greenbean man you are wrong a little bit.. In the tractor worl a GREY market tractor is one man by any manafacture that was NOT MADE FOR THE US MARKET. The goverment has in japan a program to help a farmer get a new tractor ever 3 years.
For that market Manfactures like Kubota can make a tractor that is not designed to last as long but more importantly may not meeet us saftey standards.. I.E. Pto shields and ROPS so they do not want these tractors in the us.. Kubota and some other manfactures went to court and won a case to keep compaines from importing those tractor to the us about 4 years ago. That happened after sever thousand mad their way to the us. Parts support from a dealer is almost nil however there are a number of sites on the net supplying any part you want.
 
a grey market tractor is one that has been imported though unofficial channels. They are not the official US version. They often don't have some safety features, the throttle lever works the opposite direction and have dual pto speeds.
