I was driving back from town and had the radio on. Weather man was on saying hot and dry and sunny. Well this is a local station. But guess what it was raining good and hard as he was saying hot sunny and dry. Guess he should have looked out the window before he read what was on his piece of paper that way he might have got it right for once LOL

you have been getting a lot of rain lately., soumds like what we had last growing season so far we are doing ok here in nj pa area this season

Yea, we got another 1/2 inch today and more tonite and for the next 3 days ... rivers are out around here and fields look like ponds ..

ps.. I agree .. weatherguys should look outside and NOT the computer.... maybe they would get it closer ...

I had 2.5 inches in the rain gauge this afternoon in SE MN. The creek was right at the top of its banks at dark. If it goes over, I"m out of about 60 acres of hay that I haven"t been able to cut all month due to rain. When it rains, it pours, I guess.

I know a guy who works in a local radio station, he lost faith in the weather men/ system thaty they use years ago. The system was that a waether station from 150 miles away would call them up in the am with the days forcast, and they would record it and play it back during the day. According to him a typical morning conversation often went like this:
weather station," hows the weather up there?"
DJ, "it's raining."
weather station, "IT'S WHAT????"
DJ, "it's raining."
weather station, "oh, geez, I'd better change this forcast."

One local television studio doesn't need to look out the window---they have a tin roof and apparently poor insulation as you can hear heavy rainfall and falling hail via studio announcer's microphone.

About 30 years ago, a local guy who was an "amatuer meterologist" was disgusted with the "canned" forecasts on the radio- went into the local station, and made a proposition- "I'll give you a weather report every morning on my way to work- after a month, lets talk again."

His forecasts were so much more accurate they ditched the "service" they had been on, and hired him- and he's been doing it ever since. Has become somewhat of a local celebrity, does some public service spots, commercials, etc. And just an all around good guy. Here's to many more years, Dean.
