Had that crimper yanked out from under the machine by 10:30am and sure enough, just as I suspected. Sure looks like a bad bearing to me. Got the arm gizmo in the back of my pickup and ready fer a new one.

Now comes the hard part. I know there is one of those fellers new in a box somewhere on my workbench. :>)

Really......all kinds of life left there yet. Just stick a whole tube of grease over that shaft and pound it in. Roll man roll........times a wastin'.

I hope ya get it back together and get to put up alot of hay . Most of us are so far behind the fronts starting to catchup with the backend or is it the other way around .

LOL!

Hey, what's the rule on that deal? Tighten the lock collar opposite the direction of shaft rotation?

I lost the whole she-bang somewhere. Inner race, bearing guts and lock collar. Looks like it just fell off the shaft.

I see some folks around here starting to cut.

Don't understand it neither. That darned hay isn't ready yet.

That's actually a "wobble bearing". Quite popular at one time. More rare these days now that farmers have money.

Looks ta me like the bull gear jumped the heifer shaft!
Probably one of those "Sealed for Life" bearings.
They just didn't specify which fly's life.

The one under it only has a turn and a half left in it too. May as well bust the other piggy bank open and do them all. No sense start'n to do a half fast job.
