I knew my generation was next, but wow. Happening too quick. Got a neighbor to the east, went all through school together, been working his farm since he bought it in 1981. I'd heard he had cancer, but I've seen him out and around, looks a little rough, but on his feet. I was cutting hay down there yesterday and when my wife came to get me for lunch, she was talking to his wife. She said he's full of cancer and isn't responding to treatment very well. They're going to start round 2 this next week, but it doesn't look good. He had just retired and they said he found out he had it before he could even clean out his desk.
Another neighbor just to the west, same age,his wife was a classmate of the other neighbor and me. He had a major stroke about a month ago. Heavy bleeding on the brain, they drilled a hole in his skull, did all they could. He's alive, but doesn't know anybody. Bad shape.
Two weeks ago,a neighbor just to the north had a massive heart attack and died. Then Friday, the guy who owns the resturant in town along with his wife, had a heart attack and died. We always kinda ran with the same crowd. His wife and mine are good friends.
I remember back when my uncle died,my cousin said that when Great Grandma died, she thought,"that's OK,I still have Grandma and Dad".Then when Grandma died, she thought "that's OK,I still have Dad". She said,"now Dad's gone. You know, our generation's next". Looks like it's here.

Looking back it seemed to me that there was always one class in school that had the hard luck of losing people, fortunately from our grad class of 1973 with 90 grads there is only one gone so far. Sooner or later it will start. Sorry to hear about your news. Dan

Any body who is over 85 years old is going aggist the odds. Last I heard any one 85 or older have something like 8/10 of there generati9on 6 foot under so they are on there way and now the baby boomers are getting at that point also. Years ago I was told by my doctors that I need to stay as active as I can or I'll be dead in a year or so so I do just that and yep had good friends die of cancer and that is why I do eat as organic as I can any more

Yup,we were class of 73 too. Up til now,it had just been a few accidents, but life's catching up with us I guess. My youngest brother was 7 years behind me and they've lost quite a few over the years to various maladies.

I was at sale a few years ago where they sold 5 400+ hp tractors and 3 more in the barn.

The guy running the huge farm had decided to retire, but fell dead of a heart attach the day before the sale...

I guess he should have slowed down a little earlier.

I was in the class of 70. At our 10 year class reunion we had already lost 4 of the class. 40 year class reunion have lost a toal of 12. there were only 50 in the graduating class

or he should have slowed down slower Alot of people get a heart atack because of the fast change from going strong to up and quit.Or it was just there time to go,, nobody realy knows, it's just sad to see it hapen. My cousin is 42 she has a 7 year old daughter and she's laying on her death bed(cancer for one yaer)nothing seamed to help.

How old are you rrlund?
My 20 year class reunion was 3 years ago and a couple guys had already died from Heart attacks, mid 30s when it happened to them. My graduating class was about 230.

I graduated in 73 also. Big class, almost 900. I know several that are gone. Around here, almost everybody went to work in the plants. But with everything downsizing, a lot of folks have left the state. In fact, I just got off the phone with some friends that moved to South Carolina. I give the credit, they didn't hang around and mope, they went and got jobs down there.

Dad and I were talking about this last week. He was the Class of '54. 31 graduated, 27 still left and 24 attended their 55th reunion last year. I'm the class of '80. We've lost close to 20 out of 330. Our 30th is this year. Only have 7 RSVP so far. The reunion is in Oct. I've got a wedding that weekend.

55. Geez,I remember when somebody who was 50 was old. Everybody else keeps getting older. I just stay the same.

Sounds like a good time to get a check up! I graduated in 01, thats 2001 not 1901! My wife would make me go if that happened around here!

I'm thinking just move away. I keep thinking of a movie or TV show or something that I saw where the guy said "I always thought when I died,I'd be out of town and somebody would have to come and tell me".

I'm 57 today.Have more friends and relatives on the other side than here.I guess that just part of growin old.

March 27.2010 was our 50th wedding anniversary .We never had a get together with our wdding parties as there is only one left alive and she lives back in ILL. and is to ill to travel and we both have problems which makes air travel uncomfortable,so, we went to a local restaurant by our selves and toasted each other with a small glass of Kokepeli wine, vintered here in Az. and a favorite of ours,a lite meal and home. We gave thanks we were able to do that. We both are 72 now and don't make any long range plans,LOL.JH

Here's my story and I'm sticking to it. Graduated HS in '67, College in '71. Heart attack and 5x bypass at 34. Figure that the years since have been a gift. Retired at 60. Have seen two kids graduated, and grown. Been blesed with an 8 yr old grand dughter who loves her grandpa and in a month taking her to Middle Tenn (Jefferson City) for a couple of weeks to meet some cousins. Taking the 5th wheel we bought this yr. It is all a bonus. Thanks
