John Deere 4420 steering column moves left and right

I posted this on the combine forum too. A little quiet this time of year over there. Just aquired a John Deere 4420 combine. It seems that the steering column moves slightly to the left and right. It still telescopes towards the window and back towards the driver as it should. Just don't like the left and right movement. What is wrong? Anyone have any experience with tightening one up??? I would think that it would need to be fairly tight as three levers operate off of the steering column with linkages down through the center. Should be similar to a 4400, 6600 and 6620? Thanks.

Check the mounting bolts. There are four self tapping bolts that hold the top half of the column to the cast pivot base. These are right at the floor level. These screws come loose when some one slams the column forward and back hard. You should move it reasonably.
There is a pivot pin under that nut I have never seen one of them loose. They are usually rusted stuck.
