Went to look at a 1048 self propelled bale wagon .Little rough has some welds and some hydralic leaks.Motor is also bad froze over the winter.Motor is no big deal. I can replace it.But trying to figure out what the weight is to haul it.Anyone got any ideas on that .I'm guessing somewhere between 9500-11000 pounds.Anyone no of a value on it?I'd say it's in fair condition and in it's late 70's early 80's.Ignore the fact it needs an engine because I can fix it easy enough.Trying to see if I buy it for $2000.I can maybe get $4000-$5000 after the engines replaced. We are using a Stackliner 1000 pull type right now. Will the bigger self propelled make that big of a difference? The 1048 hauls twice the amount of hay.It also goes on its own power might be easier to control. What should I do? Any help would be great. Thanks guys BlainF(WA)

Sure it's not a Super 1049? I know where one is that's been parked for over 10 years. It was in good condition when parked in a hay shed but the guy that owns it still thinks he'll get a lot of money for it. With a good operator, they were pretty quick for moving bales. I think they carry 160 bales and there was a 1069 that carried even more or might have been a diesel version. The one I know of has a 361 Ford industrial engine if I remember right. They replaced a rear tire approx. 15 years ago and it cost over $2000 back then. I think they've all needed some welding repairs on them. Dave

It's a Super 1048 has the 361 Ford V-8 engine.Trying to figure out if I'll be alright at the $2000 price tag.Need to make a little $ if I fix the engine.If I decide to resale because I don't like it.And hauling it is not cheap.About $500 to get it to the farm.If I use a tow company.Thanks BlaineF(WA)

I have a super 1049, it has 3 rows of bales, carries 160 bales, a 1048 has 2 rows of bales, carries 108 bales. i took my 361 gas engine out, after 20 years it was junk, replaced it with a Cat 3208 with a 5 speed Allison transmission, best thing I ever did!
