Diesel fuel in crankcase

I have a 190XT seriesIII tractor that is getting diesel fuel in the crankcase, what would cause that. In my mind this has to be comming from the pump.

There are two umbrella seals on the pump shaft.

One keeps oil from the engine out of the pump and the other keeps fuel from the pump out of the engine.

In rare instances, the bushing in the pump, which the seal rides on, can be worn. Doesn't happen often tho.

Common problem with the Rooso Master injector pump used on the 190XT. It has shaft seals inside the pump that are going bad and will cause that to happen plus if you run it much like that you will lock up the engine. One of the first tractors I got to unlock was a 190XT

The seals face opposite directions. I've never been able to get everything put back together without rolling 1 seal the wrong way. What's the trick?

The chain of events with the Stanadyne/Roosamaster pump often goes like this.

Plastic governor-weight-cage ring falls apart and causes the internal pressure of the pump to get too high.

Internal pressure is supposed to be only 1-4 PSI. Once it gets higher, pressurized diesel pushes past those umbrella seals.

Then to make thing worse, when trying to install new seals, they get caught in the wear ridge in the front pilot-tube bushing, and flip over and leak.

You can fix all usually with less then $30 in parts. But such leaks are often caused by other factors besides the seals themselves.

Complete seal kit with all soft parts is only around $14.

If there is a ridge worn into the front bushing, it's very hard NOT to flip it over without using a compressor. With a compressor and some motor oil on the seals, it will usually go easy. You just cannot force it.

A new bushing costs around $3 and is no big deal to stick one in.

They have two tools for installing the shaft seals. Don't cost much as I recall. You can do it without them. If you are careful and don't get in a hurry.
