Getting in to see the doc.

Had an MRI of the back this morn. and the nurse gavew me a disk with the pictures and also said the results would be sent to the back doctor right away. The back doctor will call to make an appointment.

Back doc's receptionist called at about 1:00 this afternoon and Marilyn took the call because I was conked out on the couch. I sat up so she could hand me the phone and instantly my left pelvis/hip area was on fire so I wasn't in a real patient mood. Receptionist said they had a time set up for me July 1'st. Right away I said I'm hurting really bad and if she can't get me in sooner I'll find a doctor who will. She told me to hold and when she came back she asked me if tomorrow morning at 8:30 would be OK. I don't normally get pushy that way but I've had it up to here with waiting weeks to get into a specialist. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

The report that was with the MRI disk talked about "severe ligamentous and facet joint hypertrophy contribute to moderate central spinal stenosis and severe bilateral neural foraminal stenosis. Say what????

Well Jim my friend I understood you up till that last few lines. Ya understand wanting to get in and get fixed up. Way back when I had major problems I went from Nov. till Jan before I could get any thing done. I can say I got my first BIG Buck that Nov. Doctor said I could hunt and could shot a gun but, if I did shoot a deer all I could do was watch some one else help me with it. Got a nice 9 pointer that year so just think you can make it past this problem and then go back to having fun. Oh by the way your welcome to come back to my place any time you want. Hope all goes well for you my friend

Some of those words are familiar, I did therapy for 4 years before they would operate on me(surgery is the last thing you want done to your back)but I had the fusion and did exactly what the Doctor said(walk and walk and walk)I wasn t even allowed to mow the yard, ride a bicycle nothing for 6 long months. I had a neibor had the same thing and decided he was cured after 3 months and five years later he was under the knife again. He made a beliver out of me and I behaved, 2001 and I can do anything except touch my toes(back won t bend there anymore)

Spinal stenosis and facet nerve problems is what I have. The spinal cord runs through your vertebrae, and stenosis is the narrowing of the space available for the cord.,..thus the pain you get when it is being constantly pinched, aggravated by motion. Facet nerves radiate horizontally from between the vertebrae, and add to your pain when being pinched. Chiropractic manipulation using stretching, bending, etc, opens up the spaces at least temporarily where the facet nerves go through. Inversion can do the same thing. Surgery can provide more space, but like you, want to put it off as much as possible. I get 9-10 months of considerable relief from steroid injections. Just had the third one last Monday- very much better. Many days this Spring it was almost impossible to walk- should have been using crutches.....five minutes later I might feel pretty good- just like an off/on switch.

What you say makes sense. I've found sometimes just chinning myself on something helps.

A cousin of mine who used to work in a Ford service department would run a hoist part way up, wrap his arms around it, and have someone else run the hoist up until his feet were off the floor. He'd then bounce a few times and be let back down. He said each time would last a couple of weeks.
