changing pto shaft on ford 7000 tractor

I have a ford 7000 diesel tractor that came with 2 pto shafts when I bought it. How do I change the 540 pto shaft to the 1000 pto shaft?

Nose down a bit, take a needle nose and grab the retainer clip on the chaft, compress it and remove it. Pull the shaft. Clean the other shaft's oil passages, insert and turn the shaft until it fully seats, then install the circlip.
The 1000 shaft doesn't always line up easily so you might have to work at it.
You do this with the engine shut off.
Don't start it or the gears could fall. That's a fail amount of work...

Hey Rod how you doing? Iv been real busy working, so I havent checked in much! Havent been able to bale any hay so far here in eastern NY, as it rains every other day or so, lol ;( Oh well same as last spring. Jay
