common issues with Wisconsin V465

I've been looking at used stump grinders and have seen a number of Wisconsin V465 powered jobs with bad engines. What are some of the common issues with these engines and what should a guy look for when looking at one? Thanks!

Lots of them have badly worn distributors, seems to be a weak spot on the ones I've delt with.

Been several years but if they have oil leaks they have or will overheat. The main seal behind fan tends to want to leak oil it seems like. That will pretty much toast them. Also parts are pretty expensive. I know you probably don't have much choice on stump grinder but I would never own another one. Had two different ones and put enough money in them i could have bought new diesel engine.

How many stumps you looking to grind?? May want to look into renting one for a few days. Not something most people would use very often.

Friend just bought a ditch witch with one in wasn't running . the guy said it just quit running when he was using it .found it to be a dropped valve mashed really good into head . Couple days later running fine and fairly easy to work on . Heads, and cylinders are separate from the block.
