Trailer tire problem

I have an 18' bumper pull trailer I pull my tractors on that is a 2007 model. It has 4 Super cargo radial trail tires. Load range D that are ST225/75R15s. Thursday I was running empty going about 35 mph when I looked back and saw one was flat. It looked like the valve stem had a big tear in it right at the rim. Got it fixed then Friday My son in law barrowed it to move one of his buddies 1969 GTO with no motor or trany in it. He had the other three valve stems blow out ruining one of the tires. I have never had this happen before. I run about 65 psi in them and the trailer sits undercover most all the time. What is going on. Is this common or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you,
Paul Shuler

I had 4 go close together on a 5th wheel. Local garage said a bunch of junk chinese ones got in the system. I replaced them with metal stems.l

I work at a boat dealership and have seen this happen before on boat trailers. Could be bad stems. If one goes bad we go ahead and replace them all. You don't know how old the stems were when your trailer was built.

No I have no idea how old the stems where. The trailer is an 07 but I guess the stems could have been sitting around a long time

I've always heard that you shouldn't put over 50 lbs in tires with rubber valve stems, if you put more than that in you should get steel stems.

They are putting low pressure stems in high pressure tires. Had the same problem at my last job.I was sent to the new cheap tire store company made us go to. 3500 Dodge service truck. Had four tires changed, next morning three were flat. Aired them up and went back to the old tire store. Was told they put the wrong stems in. Changed back to metal stems. No more problems.

A while back there was a BUNCH of Chinese stems that were bad. I know a trailer place that got hold of a batch of wheel tire assembly with them.
I thought I read some were that there was a recall??
I agree that the heavy duty stems are better on truck and trailer tires.

Had a steering tire go down on the interstate causing the tire tear up before I could get stopped. Had all new tires put on about six months before. They all had new rubber stems installed with the new tires. The tire shop at Gas City Indiana said never let anyone put rubber stems on heavy load tires. The rubber stem blew off even with the rim holding on by less than 1/4 of the stem. It wasn't cut as the part that let the air out was ragged.
Went back to the origanal tire shop and they said that was bull and there was nothing wrong using the rubber stems. I just had to cross off one tire shop for asking prices.
Everyone has an opinion but mine is after that to only except metal stems on my truck tires. That goes for heavy trailer tires as well.

Our rule at my tire shop was, never use a rubber valve stem in a tire that has over 50 lbs of air in it. It used to state right on the rubber stems not to use them in a rim holding over 50 lbs.

Borrowed a 12 foot cargo trailer (3~4 year old rig) from a friend about 6 weeks ago and had a valve stem blow while on the highway with the trailer empty. Luckily we were about 500 feet from a Walmart and the tire repair shop was open. They fixed the tire and got me back on the road for just the cost of the valve stem --- $1.50. They would not accept any labor and no tipping either. The valve on the other tire was inspected and found to be good.

This was my first experience with bad valve stems too. Looking back I guess I should have replaced them both with metal ones.

I would switch to the metal valve stems. Hal
PS: The military used a lot of these on heavy vehicles. Never saw that happen when inner tubes were used. This vehicle weighed 60 tons and was for used drawbar and cooling tests. It used inner tubes since it was made in the 1940's.

Had valve stem problems with the chinese stems mentioned below. Tried to get metal stems, could not because automobile wheels are too thin to hold the metal stems which are made for trailer or truck rims. Went with new rubber stems which haven't given any trouble. I've never heard about the 65 psi thing, I'll look into it.
