1951 to30 pto seal

went by the book on removal of pto shaft so i can replace seal,.says once the bolts are out you can slide the shaft out by hand,..not this one,..have pulled, prodded, pried, will slide back aout inch or so and stop,...am i missing something ????

I did an 8n, the spline was twisted in front of the pump and I had to cut the shaft and grind the spline to get it out. I hope that isnt what your proplem is. Greg

I did the seal on a MF 35 and had trouble getting it out. I put a 4x4 post on the ground behind the rear wheels, hooked a chain to the shaft and to another 4x4 post which I stood on end. Then I pulled on the top of the upright post and the shaft popped right out. Anything that can give you enough leverage could help.

I did a to30 some years back and I remember having a heck of a time pulling the shaft also. Same as you I thought there must be something else to do besides just pulling it out. There is not. Figure out some way to pull on that shaft and it will come out.
