i ahve about eighty bales most are running around 80 degrees some are 100 degrees. the 100 is in a few greener spots on the bale. baled about five day sago what should the temp be. its about 75 80 degrees out??

Up to 125 is ok, need to monitor the bales temps for about a month. Your temps sound normal. On grass hay around 100 and you may end up with some dust on some of those bales.

Around here, a lot of times it is 95-100 degrees when it is baled.

Baled 5 days ago, 80-100 degrees doesn't sound like much to be worried bout. Only question I'd ask: Is their temperature still rising?

I say this because I don"t know what size bale you"re talking about but to ease your mind if they"re small standard bales and only 80 bales I"d restack them with some air gap doesn"t need much, maybe an inch or so. I"m guessing they"re going through their sweat which is normal and the time to cool down depends on the humidity in the air.

It might take up to two weeks to go through the heating/curing process. The temperature might go as high as 100* then it will start to drop.
I line wrap my dry hay after it cures. Thar way I have no spoilage and they don't freeze down to the ground. Plus the storage life is greatly lengthen. I have some pure timothy hay that is three years old and looks like just baled hay.
