Good Lord! I called the Agco dealer the other day and ordered a distributor cap and rotor for a Mallory distributor. Got the slip in the mail today. Cap: $39.75 Rotor: $16.81 Drop ship: $22.53 Total: $78.89. Real b!tch of it is,that wasn't the problem! It was missing because it had a loose nut on the rear rocker arm bolt and the number 6 valves weren't opening. I'm REALLY geting nickle dimed to death this week!

Don't toss the old parts. Next time something go haywire you can at least swap and eliminate those parts as the cause. I've got a trunk load of parts that didn't fix the problem. Well, next time I'm all set.

well thats why shoulda diagnosed first!
need comp. spark, and fuel for an explosion.

I checked with my friendly JD guy about a distributor cap for a JD 70. $58.00. I said no thanks and went to Steiners. (Deerly Departed just as good too.)

Yep,they're right back in the box with BIG writing on it "1550 GOOD (wasn't the problem)".

Don't feel bad, I just readjusted all the valves on my old military jeep. Only to find out the poor idle was due to a cracked insulator on a spark plug. Oh well!!
p.s. - had to make all the gaskets too, didn't have any.

Yep,biggest mechanical problem with a tractor is usually a loose nut behind the wheel.

I think you should get credit for the parts.
Do you know who makes the parts for Agco? Used to
think Oliver tractors were fairly reasonable to
repair. I am rethinking that line of thought after my experiences the last year.
