Census how many more times do they want it

Well when we got ours we sent it in right away. Then about 2 weeks ago had a woman stop in to have me fill it out a 2nd time which I went ahead and let her do. Then on Friday another woman stops in to have it done again. Oh well I still do not understand having to do it in the first place since there is almost no way the Gov. does already know all of the info that in included in the census

my buddy is working for the census; they pay him $11.50 per hour and .50 per mile, so he doesn't question what they have him do.

I ran off a woman the other day. I mailed mine in and don't want the wife bothered with these jokers. We live back a 3/4 mile lane for a reason. I started locking the drive gate. Told the wife to not answer the door if she doesn't feel well.

I'm not sure the gov't knows all. I've lived in the same place for 28 yrs and they haven't sent me a form or came visited. Could be i dont exist and didn't know it

I heard a lady on the news the other day saying that she worked as a census taker and whatever census related somethings else a few times this year. Various jobs that were census related, all part time, all short term. With each job...she was hired, rehired. Each time she was rehired counted as a peg count as a person gainfully employed as many times as she was rehired temporarily. The first time, she came off of the unemployed tally as a new hire for whatever month, but didn't count as unemployed when the temp job expired because she would be rehired right away into another position and that new position counted as a new hire. If she was rehired 3 times, then on paper 3 people were hired, and so on.

I've got to tell you, I'm not happy with what I see coming out of Washington. I'm not impressed at all. Don't get me going though. Its Sunday, folks are coming over to the house for dinner and speak and stuff. Don't get me going this early, because I'm certain that one of them will later.

BEFORE the census papers were mailed out, we had a lady come to our door and tell us about the upcoming census. She knocked loudly on the door until my wife opened it. A couple days later, another lady loudly knocked until my wife opened the door, again to tell us about the upcoming census. Our papers never arrived and my wife called in to tell them that we need the papers. About a month later, our papers arrived and my wife filled them out and sent them back. We were relieved that this was all over. Until another lady came out to say that we had to verbally fill in the census because we never sent in our papers. Good grief.

You hit the nail on the head, thats the scam their running -- depending on the state and how high the unemployment numbers are. Also inflating the population counts in certain districts to gerrymander the districts by race or outright add a seat in congress.

My son was told he would be rehired for the next phase and the rest let go. So out of the group of 10 how do you want to count the nine, if my son didn't get rehired he ould be on the umemployment rolls?
What don't you like out of Wash, appears like, at least the Pres is trying to fix everything Bush broke?

I am retired and doing the census and most of you don't know what you are talking about. Did you ever notice when your census form was mailed or hand delivered it came to an address, not a person,I'll bet not. That form is for the address, actually if it came middle of March and you moved the next day, you were supposed to leave it at the address, not take it with you. Sure the gov. had your name and address but when and where. Census day 4/1/2010 is the day they need to know where everyone lives. They aren't interested where you live on 3/31/2010 or 4/2/2010.

Looks like the census is a good thing..people move around, especially during these hard economic times. In certain cases aren't tax dollars redistributed on the basis of population size and needs?

All I know is I have had two census workers come to my door. Asking the same questions and getting the same answers. Then Friday I get a census form that looks like an operators manual. The two burned out houses outside of town. Now have new census packages hanging off the door.

Thanks to the census, I was able to find out that my G.G.Grandfather married a rich widow with three children and had nine more. All of my children have left home. I hope they get counted.

IR didn't say anything because he didn't even read what was said. Mark-IN was whining and complaining and I asked him what he was talking about and what Little he said didn't make sense. And IR used that to attack me and and talk about something out in left field that didn't even follow the conversation line, then you pat him on the back by saying that the DO_Nothing Repugs jump in and get the job done-what job, what have they done? They've have earned the name of Do Nothing Party.

talk about a waste of money someone came here to make sure someone lives in our house lived in the house then we got a post card saying a census form was coming in the mail.
our township supervisor filled out 2 forms after getting letter he didn't fill out the first one had the same guy as me come to his house wanting to make sure someone lived in his house.
the guy that came around reported the farm across road as township supervisor's home so he got 2 forms.
the neighbor lady was to take training as census taker it was take 8 hours a day for 5 days pay about $13 an hour she said how hard is it to answer 10 questions that it takes that much training?

I'm not wanting to start a argument or stir up anything, but I don't understand the big deal of this subject! Are some of you wanting to aggrevate the gov? I just filled out the form as soon as I recieved it and mailed it.Took a whole 5 min,if someone would of came to my door I would of politley told them what I done and bid them a Good Day! It's not the nnalert or the Reps or the left side or right side, it just a census something they've been doing for years. Sensible post, Mike. I agree with you.

I don't know any census takers, but they're not government spies.
They are just ordinary local people hired to do the census and are just trying to make a living.

They have been at my house twice after I sent off the questionaire, but I don't care. They are just being consciencious in trying to do a good job.
It's probably easy to get mixed up and have to go back for one reason or other. There has to be a lot of paperwork and forms they have to fill out.

They're not trying to find out personal secrets. They're just trying to get a reliable count.
I would think that it's not that easy of a job. They have to encounter bad dogs, mean people, pouring rain, muddy roads.

And I'm sure it's a tiresome job, both mentally and physically.
They have to be physically fit because of the amount of walking, climbing steps, etc. Not to mention running from bad dogs and mean people. LOL

The ones that came to my door were friendly and courteous, and I treated them likewise.
It doesn't hurt to be neighborly to people.

Mike I have no problem with the census. Got mine filled it in and sent it back. It is the way it is being done that is making people mad.
I got four letters telling me they were going to send me a census form. Then after I had mine in the mail. I get two more telling me to be sure and fill it out and back by the deadline. Then I have people showing up asking me questions that I have already answered. Then I get the another census book that looks like an operators manual.
When you drive down our back roads in this county. You will find forms hanging off of gates to empty fields. There are two burned out houses with forms hanging off the front doors. Now there is second form hanging off the door.
We even have forms hanging off of gates to two old oil field pipeline yards.
This is a complete waste of money. They should leave the forms only at places were people live.
