Good racoon bait is what? Trap is a necessity I guess. Guns are out, not my building. I told her call the cops and force landlord to dispose of this animal, but she probably won't. Will a 22 short penetrate a wall or floor or is it iffy? Tomorrow I will know more. Thanks, Dave.
 
go buy a live animal trap. Put cat or dog food in a jar lid and put it in the trap. Racoons are easy to trap--then take it where you can and shoot it. Don't just let it go.
 
Live trap with can of sardines punctured in several places. Tie sardines inside trap with wire and set it out close to cover or against a wall. After trapping, cover with heavy tarp, transport and dispose of in appropriate manner. 22 short at close range seems to work quietly and efficently.
 
.22 indoors is not a good choice.

Use a trap. Canned cat food works great. Once trapped you can relocate (20+ miles away) or dispose according to your circumstances.
 
All this reminds me of a story the VP of Underwriting told me at an insurance company where I once worked.

Dennis said when he was 10-12 years old, he occasionally stayed with his aunt and uncle on a farm. He said it was always "interesting".

One evening they were watching TV when his aunt yelled, "There goes a mouse!"

Dennis said his uncle didn't say a word, simply pulled a .22 revolver out of his pocket, splattered the mouse on the baseboard, put the revolver back in his pocket and turned back to the TV.
 
Cops ? they can't even keep those out of DC and the white house what would they do ? Every city is suppose to have animal control officers.
 
Thanks all. Racoon went back in hole in wall. Cops moved refrigerator over hole. Landlord said I don't know what to do. Maybe raise your rent. Sister back on computer-all that matters. Dave
