Slick Binder Pickup

I had an email from a gent in Canada this week. He had seen pictures of this IH pickup on my site and wanted to know where to find one. Ha Ha, I says! These pics were taken at Red Power show in Columbia MO a couple years ago. Anybody seen a truck like this recently? (lost my hard drive earlier this year, only pictures left are uploaded on my site, http://saltcreeklife.com/farmallih/)

Nice old "corn-binder"!!
Neighbor Farmer had one just like it, only green and no "mags".
Worked the devil out of it hauling hay wagons and such.
Had a slide-in camper for it and he and his wife took time out for a trip to Alaska one time.
Tough trucks!

'Round here, that ain't an OLD Binder!!It's at least a '69 or '70 model. I've got a '51 and a '52 that I'm working on as projects, so they're not quite that slick-looking...not yet, anyway. The '51 will remain mostly stock, while the '52 is my street rod project. [And yes, the NSRA has changed the definition of a "street rod" to include both of my trucks, year-wise.]

glad to see somebody else likes those pickups, thats one nice ihc! always liked them, they may not have all the doo dads the others have so the soccer moms can drive them, but if took care of they'll outlast anything on the road and outclimb most everything off the road

I had a number of those "binders" from the later 60's and early 70's. They were incredibly tough trucks. The engines were the same as used in the Loadstar series and the school busses. The loadstars just got a bigger oil pan and a much bigger radiator, plus the bigger transmissions. The engine family of 304-345-392 were a very tough engine, with maybe the 345 being the most popular.

This particular truck is in the vintage from 1969 to 1975, but I suspect it is a 72 or 73 model. I would need to see the front end to be more definitive. If they had the automatic tranny, it was the Chrysler torqueflite 727.

Like all trucks of this vintage, they succumbed to rust. If they had been made with inner fender liners, they would have lasted many more years.

I drove my '63 IH to Alaska before the pipeline was built. Made some good memories in that truck.

It"s been a long time since I"ve actually seen it, but Grandma"s still got Grandpa"s 1973 1210 in the garage. It"s not as pretty as the one in the pic, but most of the external paint looks good (though I know the floor of the bed is shot, and I haven"t seen the underside to see how bad it is). Unlike that one, it"s a two-wheeler. Has less than 70K miles, 392 4 bbl, and automatic. Hasn"t moved in at least 10 years, and probably won"t move anytime soon, unless she finds someone interested in buying.
