Cub Cadet 107 Hydo Problem! Need Help!

Hello:

I just bought a Cub Cadet 107 last week. I was cutting grass today for about 2 hours, and everything was fine… then I hit a small mound of dirt and my hydrostatic transmission stopped working! The lever will move to the forward and reverse positions, but the tractor won’t move. The mower blade still has power, just not the transmission. Am I screwed???

I’d appreciate any advice you can give me.
Thanks!

Did you step on the brake when you hit the mound of dirt? The brake assembly could be rusty and maybe disengaged the hydro if you stepped on the brake. this happened to me with a Allis chalmers 9-19.

lift up the hood and see if you can follow any rods from brake pedal and see where they go. On the Allis I can lift the back tin up and that allows you to see what moves when you push the brake. there was a piece of metal on top of the hydro unit that pushed down on two pins. That disengaged the hydro. It is fairly easy to see but it may be different on a cub cadet. There should be a garden tractor section that may be able to help you better then I can. google Cub Cadet and see what you get.

Thanks for your concern Ron... I really appreciate it. I just figured it out!!!!
The bolt or cotter pin??? that connects the drive shaft to the motor had fallen out. I put a new bolt in, and all is well!!!!

You may have sheared a spiral pin in the drive shaft coupling when you hit the dirt. May have been just enough of a jolt on an old fatuiged pin. If the drive shaft turns with the engine but not the coupling going into the transmission, oorrr the drive shaft turns freely , but not the engine, check each pin on both ends of the drive shaft. They are not easy to get to on a narrow frame 107

Should be a pin, not a bolt...best to get the correct part as soon as ya can, hopefully the driveshaft is not wallowed out.A too hard bolt can take out the couplers... As long as you are in there you might want to take off the tunnel cover and check the rear pin and couplers and make sure it still has a fan to cool the hydro....

Did we mention mission creep???:)
