Have a 1466 with 20.8s that the tires are almost gone have alittle more sod plowing to do and having alot of slip. No duals for it. Could a person put a 18.4 clamp on dual on ,have a pair of those. Only need one side, the other side in furrow. Seems to "look" about same height. Thanks..

yes it can be done as long as they are both ?.?-38s. i have 15.5-38son my 730 jd and put 18.4-38 clamp on duals all the time

Wheel setting may need to be changed, for a Dual on the Left side..
Probably is best to have the left wheel set close..
We always used a dual on each WD-45..
For 4x14" the wheels usually set about all the way out..
For discing, we set them "in" and added the Duals..
Dual size should be very near the inside tire size ( we found same size was perfect) just maybe worn down more...!!
Makes a World of difference..!!

Unfortunately you won't add much traction in that situation - with the other side in the furrow, the dual mostly rides in the air from the angle, and when it does get to dirt, it is scratching the loose surface, not getting into the ground & finding traction.

It'll help, but don't expect a lot.

My TW-20 the furrow wheel finds a lot of traction, the duals on the left kinda float in the trash & spin out a lot.

An 18.4 is 3.1 inches shorter than a 20.8 is. If you are just wanting extra float then put them on, If you need traction you are wasting your time and need to find a set of 20.8 duals.

Agree with Paul- all you're adding is weight. Not a bad thing necessarily, but easier to achieve with cast iron. Duals help to reduce compaction in loose soil- not what you generally have in Spring plowing. If it's slippery enough to gain traction from the dual, you'd better not be out there this time of year...
