Any body know any thing about one?? I picked up one today and an auction payed all of $4 for it. Figure if I can not figure out how to set it up it would at least make a tractor cover. I figure it had some type of poles to it but they did not come with it. So any body know any thing about them and what they looked like set up etc.
Thanks

Here is a web site with a new one for sale. There is a picture and they sell the Poles separately.

The Tent, General Purpose, Medium, and Tent, General Purpose, Small all had a diagram and set-up instructions on a white cloth sewn inside the tent. I think it also included a list of the components. I don't remember a model like "M-1950". 1960's thru 2000. The Medium has wooden poles and the small has aluminum telescoping poles.

Google the picks, take a few measurements, and put together a frame outa 2x4's. poles, or pipe....... Couple training areas here have permanent pipe frames on concrete slabs. Units just had to bring a tent and throw it over. Get a helper so you don't hurt your back.

Yeah...you talking about a GP Medium. It will have to be a short tractor to get it in. The doors are only man size and you will have to raise the sides to get a tractor in it. There are 2 large poles with metal spikes on the ends. They go in to hold up the center, then you have a bunch of smaller poles to hold up the sides as you install the ropes to hold it up. Used to take at least 4 men to set one up the right way.
We used to make a wooden frame like a small house amd just hang it over the frame.
Good luck.

Those are the tents we used as Boy Scouts. They were great tents in cold weather, not so good when it was hot. I can more or less remember how to pitch those tents, but fortunately I don't have to because the official Army tech pub has been published to the web.

These are low, round tents with a single pole in the middle. They will sleep a dozen guys, but you'll never get a tractor in them. They are pretty simple to set up: You unfold the tent right-side-up, find the corner guys and stake them out. Then someone gets in the middle and stands up the center pole while everyone else tightens the corner guys. Once that's done it's a simple matter of staking out the center guys and the apron. I don't think it's possible for one man to erect the tent, and you'll need far better stakes than the typical sporting-goods store stakes.
