Update On Well Pump Problem

We pulled the pump/motor this morning and the good news is, it's wet along with about 15 feet of the pipe above it. It's a 3/4 hp Water Ace. When I turn it on, it makes very little torque and makes a "dllll" sound that I don't remember before. Sorry about the sound description; don't know how else to spell it....I'm thinking a bearing. Also, when it was being pulled up, the check valve in the pipe first sent out some air, and then spit out some water. Is this normal?
Of course it's Sunday, so I can't take it in until tomorrow to be checked.
Any input is welcome.
Thanks,
Chuck

Good chance that the little coupling between the motor shaft and the real pump is sheared or loose. That is your noise and why the thing want pump water.. Motor running but the true pump is not turning or turning at reduced speed.

Assuming it is a submersible pump; we always
bought a brand that has a spline connecting
the motor and pump.

Could it be that the motor just needs a new starting capacitor? Hard to tell unless you know how to test that, which I don't.Sorry.
