OT. Well Pump Problem

We are out of water, and I held the "trip" switch to get the pump going and even though I could hear the pump run, no pressure is building up. We were having a problem with air building up in the pipes; happens every so often, and when this happens, I open the valve on the tank and when the air wooshes out, every thing is fine for about 6 to 8 months. I was going to do this, but it's moot now.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Chuck

I've had 2 pumps to have the coupling between the motor and the pump break and 1 that had the check valve come apart so that it was stopping flow in the wrong direction. The worst part is getting the pump out if it is stuck on the pitless connector. All of those ran but no water came out. If your check valve was going bad that could cause more air in the tank by letting the water in the pipe drain down to the water level in the well each time the pump stops.

Dunno, It's 60 ft down. I'm going to pull it tomorrow morning to see what I can see. There's a river across the road and I've been filling buckets, so at least we can flush.

Just be glad that you don't have to go as deep as we do here in SE AZ. Our well is 350' and we just had to replace the pump in another property we had, and sold. The guy got it done in one day and finished up the next. BUT, he would not guarentee anything unless he replaced the pipe and wire also.
