Ok guys probably a really dumb question but on my Ford 2000 theres a lever under the right side of seat that when I flip sends the 3 point down. Is this for plows, discs ect? I've been using the one by my right side with a box blade on back and having problems with it just following the contour of the ground.Didn't know there was 2 levers. You help greatly appreciated Mike

Mike:

It sounds like you are referring to the draft/position control lever.

If so, use the draft setting for plowing only.

Draft control. For plowing. I can't tell you which way is which but in one position it will be easier to hold your blade at any height. But with the blade lowered it is always going to "float" and follow the ground a certian amount. If it says POS or something like that that's the way you want, the other way might be marrked D for draft

IIRC, it'll be marked "L" and "D" for load or draft. (I had 2 Ford 3000's for quite a while, but never used either for plowing)

if you're referring to the small cast lever that sits next to trans case, its draft control.
up as in horizontal is normal.
down or vertical is draft.

The horizontal or up position on both our Fords gave you draft control with the 3pt. The vertical or down position gave you "position control" of the 3pt; ie, the 3pt remained at a fixed location/position based on the setting of the operating lever. Rarely used the position control feature, except when using the Ford 3pt attachment to lift tractor and change the rear wheels. But likely also a requirement for a boom attachment and other such devices.

Hey dude you have the back wards just to let you know. Up is position down is draft. As per the manuals and the tractors I own and have run for decades

Thought about it for a few minutes and agree you are correct. Brother has the Fords and I haven't driven one for at least 25 years, Deere and CIH here so shouldn't have been so positive.

Jeez guys, I worked on those dudes in 1970 right after I got out of the service as a field tech and I can't remember! Get a manual.Too many birthdays and moving parts since. CT
