Case 1845B Skidsteer hard starting

I have an 1845B Case Skidsteer. It has been a real hard starter ever since I've owned it. It has about 4500 hours on it. I have to ether it at any temperature to start (even if its 80 degrees above).
It has a 4 cyliner diesel engine. I believe its a Case diesel, not the Cummins engine.
Once started, it runs fine and does not smoke.
Anybody had similar experiences?. Any suggestions on how to improve the starting are appreciated.

It could be a combination of things including reduced compression, pump timing, injector condition, and cranking speed. Post over on the CASE forum, many very knowledgable on the 188/207ci. Case diesel engines.

I have an 1845 and was having to use jumper cables every time it needed starting. Replaced the starter and solved the problem.

I guess the answer is how much money do you want
to spend. Have worked on dozens of 188D engines.
Possible problems cranking speed, injector pump,
injectors, timing, compression,etc.
The last 2000 hours I used my 1845; have given it
one shot of starting fluid from ether assist kit
that came with it. I realize the risk, but the
odds are now in my favor.
Usually keep one or two engines around. They are
an easy swap.
